HOT SHOP is a ADV/PRO workshop series designed to aid individuals in reconnecting to their artistic voice and the joy of movement, through the exploration of Hot Crowd’s diverse repertoire and improvisation. 

 

This 3-hour workshop iteration is inspired by our Season 7’s research of innate human traits. S.8’s HOT SHOPS will continue to explore the  raw human experience while introducing our S.8 theme of connection, hardship and self expression.

 

Dancers can look forward to company class, improvisational exploration, and company repertoire. Each and every HOT SHOP is carefully constructed for a different experience. Come meet the Directors and Assistant Rehearsal Director while connecting with the community through, class, research , discussion and movement.

HOT SHOP 1 (September 28th, 12pm-3pm): repertoire will explore the S.7 finale of INNATE, “Lovesick” choreographed by resident choreographer Katie Carey. Participants are invited to dive into this other-worldly piece with a class warm up with Co-Director Devon Lloyd and then transition into the statement piece with Assistant Rehearsal Director Lindsey Scouten.
 

HOT SHOP 2 (November  17th, 12:30pm-3:30pm): repertoire will explore the latest commissioned piece of S.8, “Please Hold,” choreographed by Emily Duggins Ehling (St.Louis). Participants are invited to dive deep into this story of friendships, tender connection, while focusing on the thoughtful transitions and seamless partnering. Both class and rep will be conducted by both Directors

 

HOT SHOP 3 (February 2nd, 12:30pm-3:30pm): Faces of the Crowd special! Attend this HOT SHOP and get a FREE ticket to our upcoming show, Faces of the Crowd (Feb. 2, 4pm-7pm at Lemon). We welcome all dancing artists to attend this two in one workshop series. Experience two new pieces that will debut at our upcoming February show featuring work by company artists Kyra Laster and Lauren Janney. As a thank you for your attendance we welcome you with a complimentary ticket to our Faces of the Crowd show. Class will be conducted by both directors, Devon & Brittany with rep taught by both Lindsey Scouten and Kyra Laster. This HOT SHOP will take place at Definition Dance Academy. 

 

HOT SHOP 4 (March 23rd, 12:30pm-3:30pm): repertoire will explore the latest commissioned work by Chicago’s very own Noelle Kayser. Class will be conducted by both directors with rep taught by Lindsey Scouten. This HOT SHOP will take place at Definition Dance Academy. 

 

HOT SHOP 5 (May 31st, 1pm-4pm): repertoire will explore the final additions of repertoire added to S.8. Stay tuned to social media and help us decide what to reach. As a reminder our S.8 Spring Annual Show is May 16-18 at Theater Wit. Come experience the abstract world of Hot Crowd  with six new world premieres. This HOT SHOP will take place at Rooted Space.
